Transmission service red flag?

My friend's 2020 Highlander XLE needs a transmission service because it's almost 60 thousand miles. She wanted to do it herself, but decided that it was too much to deal with lol.
I've done it before and might understand that the drain needs to be done at a certain temperature. But when she asked her dealership if the car needed to be dropped off the night before to cool it down, they reacted like it was a ridiculous thing to ask and told her to just bring it. I think that's kind of unusual, do you guys think this is a red flag?

yeah that's kinda odd since transmission fluid temp matters for draining properly if they acted like it was weird to ask about cooling it down it sounds like they either dont know what they're doing or just wanted to rush it through i wouldnt say it's a total red flag but i'd definitely ask some more questions or find a shop that knows what they're talking about

Toyota's ws fluid needs to be checked at a specific temperature, so brushing off the question isn't a good sign. dropping it off overnight isn't necessary tho, they should still verify temp before checking the level. If they're skipping that step, there's a risk of overfilling or underfilling, which can cause long term issues. I'd ask how they confirm fluid level, if they dodge the question, it might be worth going elsewhere.

you're right, it needs to be cooled off. but that doesn't mean tht the car needed to be dropped off the night before

I'm sure the dealership service knows what they're doing and doubt they'll do something stupid like not following the proper procedures for transmission service

I tend to take my cars to the dealer even for those regular maintenances most people avoid them and I haven't had any problems so far. I can understand people being worried, but as @TheSilentRider1 said, they probably know more than us, so I guess nothing to worry about

Yeah, honestly that's a little sketchy. Temperature matters for these newer transmissions, so brushing it off like that isn't great. Agree with them that the dealer probably doesn't know what he's talking about. I'd say trust your gut. Go with someone like an actual specialist for the matter.

I had a run-in that really stuck with me while I was getting my SUV's transmission serviced. I brought up some concerns about timing and temperature, and the guys at the shop just kind of shrugged it off like it was no big deal. I can't tell you how relieved I was when I found a specialist who really got into the nitty-gritty of things. They saved me from what could have been a mess down the line
