I own a toyota highlander hybrid xle and yesterday i tired to open the map application and it showed nothing but black, empty when everything else seems to be functioning. bluetooth and music app works fine. Took it to the dealer but to no avail, they tried to reset the software and all but after that didnt solve anything they just looked like they have got zero idea on what is happening. taking my chances here hoping someone could shed light on this.

its really surprising that the software reset didn't solve your problem, something similar happened with my map, although it didn't show black but it just didn't seem to giving any feedback. i did a software reset and it solved my problem. i don't know what could be the problem with yours, can someone shed light on this for @caliguy420

@caliguy420 and @that.cool.mum honestly this blank map screen problem on the highlander sounds less like a software issue and more like the system just decided to throw a tantrum because if a reset didn't fix it I'd start asking the dealer about possible hardware glitches like maybe something's up with the display itself or even the map chip failing silently have they checked those possibilities yet or do they just look confused and shrug?

honestly, this sounds like classic Toyota, system acts up, dealer shrugs, and everyone just pretends it's normal. If a reset didn't fix it, sure, it could be hardware, but sometimes these infotainment systems just glitch out for no reason and magically fix themselves a week later.

The dealer is odd, if I were you, I'd go to another dealership for a second opinion. btw, if you use the factory integrated navigation, you need to register first and subscribe. I just use the Apple CarPlay or Android Auto BCS they're free
