I was driving fast on the highway sunny good road no cars 70 mph. I love my Highlander just got a new one to replace my old 2013. Never had a problem until now. Then voila! a loud noise came in! A big black thing flies down the road behind me. My car is okay and no marks no idea what happened. Toyota guys only saw damage from it breaking off and sliding under. I drive a lot hit stuff sometimes but I always know when. This time? No clue. Lucky I was alone during bike rally here in Kansas it could have been bad. Body shop guy said the bumper's barely stuck on compared to other cars. Anyone experience this?

Ooof that's unfortunate!
The bumper's shouldn't be "barely stuck on compared to other cars" right? Like what does your body shop guy mean?
If it's a new one, then probably your bumper wasn't properly installed at the factory?

I see you're a Highlander loyalist hahaha. Did you previously have an accident or something that could have been the reason this part of your underbody shield weakened? Did you have even like a minor damage or something before? Those are the only things I can think of aside from wind pressure.

Bumper definitely wasn't properly installed. I recommend you get a full inspection, just to ensure that everything is secure, especially on the mounting points.

Haven't experienced the same scenario but same advise as above, it looks like the bumper wasn't fitted properly. have you taken this for a second opinion?

I haven't personally experienced this, thankfully, that's quite scary. It could have been a loose underbody panel or part of the bumper cover letting go already. You need to get the whole front end checked... especially clips and mounts. Just to be safe. :)
